HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Huntington Police arrested one person following a shots fired call in the 1600 block of Doulton Avenue late Saturday night.
According to the criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court, Tyrell Antraun Hughes, 22, has been charged with wanton endangerment.
According to the complaint, Hughes fired a handgun in the Northcott Housing Project.
There were no injuries.
WORTHINGTON -- Robert Lee McIntire, 32, is charged with two counts of wanton endangerment.
The Marion County Sheriff's Department says McIntire was in the woods, outside of Worthington, when he got into a dispute with family members.
He fired a pistol, at least three times, at two family members, said deputies.
McIntire was arrested Saturday evening.
He's in the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $1,500.
MARTINSBURG - A West Virginia State Trooper responding to a report of a psychiatric patient threatening to burn his estranged wife's home on Tuesday night was confronted by a Falling Waters man armed with 20-gauge shotgun when he arrived at the scene.
In what his superiors have described as an act of bravery, Senior Trooper N.K. Campbell was able to wrestle the shotgun from 37-year-old Steven Eugene Rhoe's hands and prevent him from carrying through with his threat.
"Trooper N.K. Campbell showed extreme bravery and dedication to the preservation of life and property of our Berkeley County residents.
We are grateful that this incident turned out the way that it did, with no one getting injured as a result of the careless actions of Mr. Rhoe," 1st Sgt. E.D. Burnett, Troop 2 District 1 Commander, said Wednesday.
Rhoe was arrested and charged with attempted arson, wanton endangerment, fleeing on foot, brandishing, obstructing a police officer and domestic assault.
On Tuesday at about 7:10 p.m., Campbell and Senior Trooper J.R. Barker of the West Virginia State Police's Martinsburg Detachment responded to 35 Sour Lane in Falling Waters for a report of a psychiatric patient who was threatening to burn down his estranged wife's home, according to news release. Campbell was the first to arrive at the scene, followed by Barker.
When Campbell arrived, he saw a man, later identified as Rhoe, run into his estranged wife's home.
During this time, Campbell overheard Rhoe's estranged spouse state that the man was going into the house to retrieve a gun. As Campbell approached the front of the residence, Rhoe appeared at the front door armed with a 20-gauge shotgun in his hands, police said.
Campbell drew his firearm and began ordering Rhoe to drop the weapon. Rhoe failed to comply with the officer's orders and began to walk around the side of the home, police said. At that time, Campbell again ordered Rhoe to drop the firearm and to stop, however, he got no response from Rhoe, police said.
Rhoe then "picked up his pace" and started heading toward a trailer to the side and rear of his estranged wife's home. Campbell approached Rhoe as he was walking into the trailer and sprayed a burst of pepper spray to the man's face. Campbell then gained control of the shotgun and was able to place Rhoe in handcuffs, police said.
At that time, Barker arrived on scene and assisted with placing Rhoe into Campbell's vehicle.
It was later learned that Rhoe was retreating to the second trailer to obtain shells for his shotgun, police said.
Rhoe was taken to Martinsburg's State Police Detachment where he was processed and taken to the Eastern Regional Jail to await arraignment.
JANE LEW -- A Lewis County man is behind bars after a 45 minute stand off with police.
The incident started as a domestic dispute in the town of Jane Lew, Sunday afternoon.
Terry Garton, 48, was arrested and charged with three counts of wanton endangermet.
Garton, according to the state police, fired three shots from a high powered rifle into a home. There were six people inside the home at the time, police said. All three shots struck the house; no one was injured.
Garton was standing in a near by graveyard as he fire the rifle, police believe.
Police tracked Garton to his residence on Broad Run Road.
After a 45 minute stand-off outside of Garton's car, he was apprehended and taken into custody, said police.
Garton was taken to the Central Regional Jail where he's facing six counts of wanton endangerment.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Department, State Police and Weston City Police all responded to the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
MARTINSBURG - The trial date for a Williamsport, Md., man indicted on charges stemming from a February shooting incident was set Thursday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.
David Russell Bussard, 34, entered a plea of not guilty to one count of attempted murder, wanton endangerment and malicious assault.
Circuit Court Judge Gina Groh scheduled a trial date for Jan. 26, and a pre-trial hearing was set for Jan. 14. A status hearing was scheduled for Dec. 3.
Bussard was represented in court by local defense attorney Christopher Prezioso, who waived Bussard's right to a speedy trial as well as the reading of Bussard's indictment in open court.
The state was represented by Prosecuting Attorney Pamela Games-Neely.
According to court records, deputies with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Department responded at approximately 11:22 p.m. Feb. 10 to a gunshot victim at a residence within the Broadview Trailer Park in Falling Waters.
When they arrived on scene, they saw a man, later identified as Bussard, exiting the front door of the residence and they told him to lay on the ground. While complying with the deputies' orders, a metal object, later determined to be a .40-caliber handgun, fell to the ground.
Once Bussard was secured, deputies went into the residence and found David Allen Moye, of Falling Waters, sitting on the couch with a gunshot wound on his upper left thigh. Deputies also found several bullet holes in walls, a kitchen cabinet and a hot water heater, according to court documents.
Moye told police he was involved in an argument with one of several people at the residence. When everyone but Bussard left to go for a drive, Moye said he went into his bedroom. Bussard called Moye out of his room, and when he walked out he saw a gun aimed at him.
He told police that Bussard pointed the gun to the side and shot twice, and then aimed the gun at him and shot.
Moye was treated on the scene by responders from the Berkeley County Emergency Ambulance Authority and then taken to City Hospital in Martinsburg. Berkeley County Sheriff Kenneth "Kenny" Lemaster said the injury was not life-threatening.
If convicted of attempted murder, Bussard could face up to 15 years in prison. A conviction on the malicious assault charge would bring a two- to 10-year sentence, while a one- to five-year sentence could be handed down if he is convicted on the wanton endangerment charge.
HUNTINGTON -- A man shot by a Huntington police officer last week was released from the hospital and is now at Western Regional Jail.
Walter Wilson, 29, was released from St. Mary's Medical center Thursday evening. He is charged with wanton endangerment and obstructing a police officer.
Huntington police officer Richard Kern shot Wilson Oct. 19, during an incident at the Speedway on Sixth Avenue and Hal Greer Boulevard.
Kern was on administrative leave but is now back on patrol.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va- The man accused of shooting at police officers early Saturday morning has been arrested.
West Virginia State Police say Adam Perry has been charged with 20 counts of wanton endangerment and 4 felony counts of attempting to murder a police officer.
Perry is in the Western Regional Jail.
