Man arrested after police pursuit
CHARLESTON, W.Va.- A man suspected of firing shots in a Charleston neighborhood Sunday morning is behind bars.
Charleston Police charged Rashawn Beatty with fleeing and driving drunk.
At about 3:00 a.m. Sunday, police were responding to a call about shots being fired in the 900 block of Central Avenue. That's when police say they found Beatty in a car and he lead them on a chase down Patrick Street.
Police say Beatty drove the wrong way and hit two parked cars on Kemp Avenue. He then got back on Patrick Street and hit a Charleston Police car. The officer was not injured.
Beatty took off into the woods, but a K-9 officer found him hiding in the bushes.
Beatty has been charged with fleeing while DUI. He is in the South Central Regional jail.
